Creativity is an essential part of our human experience. Yet, in socio-economically disadvantaged communities, it is often forgotten.
As is the conversation of mental health in childhood.
Due to a lack of resources, these communities are less likely to have an understanding as to how a balance of work & creativity is essential for health & wellness. Using the creative process to enhance a patient's experience in a safe environment structured by a therapist can benefit the mind & body. Allowing children the space to learn coping strategies can also help with anxiety in adult life by cultivating an understanding of a safe space within themselves. The idea of developing grounding methods earlier in life will make integration into adulthood easier, as it becomes their nature.
